yeah, i'm with you. no, sadly i haven't yet. but i plan to get my hands on them. i think the only things i've seen him are blood for dracula, flesh for frankenstein and crybaby.

by the by, what age group do you teach english to? does your class(es) read any books? i've not gotten to start burning britain yet, i'm reading judith butler right now, and i'm not in a big reading mood, so it's going a but slow even though it's incredibly exciting. i haven't had any nightmares in a very long time, but every single night i have uncomfortable dreams that make me feel like shit, which is pretty irritating. have you ever had nightmare problems? boy, do i ramble.

when you get a chance to see them, do. heat especially; it's andy warhol's take on sunset blvd., etc. combined.

i have different age groups. sometimes teenagers, sometimes adults. right now, it's all adults. they don't read here much-- some kind of weird cultural thing, i guess-- so i do spend half of the lesson teaching literature when i can. i do a lot of that with the teenagers, but they usually wind up reading f. scott fitzgerald, virginia woolf, george orwell... that kind of stuff. sometimes it's disappointing because many of them just hate reading, and even a good story won't change that attitude. you really have to work with them.

and nightmares... right now i'm nightmare free, but yeah, i've had periods in my life where sometimes i just never slept because i'd have one and wake up, finally get back to sleep and drop into another one or back into the same one and wake up... but at the moment i've been nightmare-free for about 6 months (minus one instance when i dreamed about that jailer from Kaspar Hauser). i finally had to resort to meditation before bedtime to go totally blank in my head to get rid of them. wonder how long that will work....

i hope these uncomfortable dreams of yours will stop... but if in the meantime you can use them at all to fuel your work, you might find that you deplete the supply, so to speak. that's happened to me, too.

i love sunset blvd! i didn't know that, cool.

i can imagine it's really tough to get someone to like and be into reading who's already a grown person, and is adverse to it. do you get to choose what you read in your classes? do you like the job?

i can never go back to sleep after a nightmare, i have to turn on all the lights and watch a harmless film or something. but i'm pretty good at staying up all night. the problem with my dreams is that they're just uncomfortable and humiliating, they don't really feed me creatively. but you've got a point, maybe if i start writing them down or something they'll give me a break. i hope your nightmares stay away.
